Burnaby Coed Slo Pitch League House Rules 2011

SPN rules apply with the following exceptions:

Game Setup, Roster & Schedule Rules

  1. Players must be 19 years of age or older.
  2. All teams are required to wear matching numbered jerseys during play.
  3. A full team (10 players) will consist of 6 male (maximum) and 4 female players. Minimum of 9 players, of which 5 are male and 4 are female or 6 are male and 3 are female, and the 10th better is an automatic out. A 10th player may be added after the game has started but must be inserted in the 10th batting position.
  4. The batting lineup is unlimited. No more than 2 males shall bat in a row. No less than 40% of your lineup can be female. If you bat 12 then you must have 5 females. If you bat 13 you must have 6 females etc.
  5. All score sheets and linup cards must be completed with each players first and last name.
  6. A grace period of 15 (fifteen) minutes will be given to teams that do not have enough players to begin play. If the home team uses the grace period they will be forced to bat first.
  7. Game Times:
    • Weeknight games: 6:30pm 6:45pm, 7:45pm and 9:00pm
    • Weekend games: 10:30am 12:00pm, 1:30pm, 3:00pm & 4:30pm
    • Tournament games: TBD
  8. Game Time Limits:
    • Singleheaders and Sunday Doubleheaders: No inning to begin 75 minutes after start time.
    • Weeknight Doubleheaders: No inning to begin 65 minutes after start time.
    • Tournaments: TBD
  9. All league games ending in a tie after 7 (seven) complete innings or an expired time limit will be considered a tie.
  10. Both teams must submit their scores through www.burnabycoedslopitch.com website within 72 hours of game completion.
    • Penalty: Winning team will not receive credit for the victory and both teams will have 1 (one) point deducted from their standings.
  11. Game rescheduling by teams require a minimum 3 (three) weeks notice to the Scheduler and the opposing team.
    • No exceptions
    • The umpire is the only individual with the authority to cancel a game at the park on game day.

    Game Play Rules

  12. The maximum runs for innings;
    • Innings 1 thru 5 = Catch up +5 runs
    • Innings 6 and 7 = unlimited
  13. No mercy rule.
  14. The commitment, or safety, line is 20 (twenty) feet from home plate towards 3rd base. All plays at home are considered force plays.
  15. A walk to a male batter, with a female following, on 4 (four) pitches or less will result in the male batter being awarded 2nd base.
    • All other runners may be moved up as forced.
    • The female batter following must bat.
  16. 3 (three) courtesty runners are allowed per game.
    • The courtesy runner must be the same sex as the runner they are replacing.
    • The courtesy runner can run from any base safely reached by the batter.
    • Only players listed on the lineup card are eligible to be courtesy runners.
    • The same runner may be used more than once.
  17. A 150ft line will be used for female batters. If any of the 4 fielders are inside the line at the time the ball is hit, the female batter will receive a free pass to 1st base after the conclusion of the play. NO baserunner will be in jeopardy of being put out at the next base they are going to. (The female batter could hit the ball past the fielders encroaching, in which case the play would continue)
BATS BANNED

The following bats are banned by ASA as adopted by SPN and BCSL. Click Here. Penalties for being caught with a banned or altered bat in the Burnaby Coed Slo Pitch League are as follows.
Regular Season Games:
- 1st offense: Penalty to Team = Loss of Game + $50 fine (comes off of team bond)
- 2nd offense: Penalty to Team = Loss of Game + $100 fine (comes off of team bond)
- 3rd offense: Penalty to Team = Banned from league for 1 year
Playoff Games:
- 1st offense: Penalty to Team = Ejected from Playoffs

Team and Player Eligibility
• Players must be registered and have played in at least 8 league games to be eligible for the playoffs
• A teams roster must be completed prior to the start of the season and received by SPN before play. Any additions to the roster must be submitted to SPN before play.
• Players can only be listed on one (1) teams roster
• Inclusion of an individuals name on the roster is an indication that the individual is aware of the Rules, Constitution and Bylaws and will abide by its Rules, Constitution and Bylaws.

Unacceptable Behaviour

• A physical strike by any member of the BCSL as a result of league activities shall result in the suspension of that member for a period of three (3) to five (5) years from the date of the incident. Following the suspension, readmission may only be granted through a general meeting vote with a majority of the league in support
• Any member who threatens to strike someone as a result of league activities will be suspended for the remainder of the season plus playoffs. Readmission may only be granted through a general meeting vote with a majority of the league in support
• Verbal abuse or general threat will result in a penalty ranging from a warning to a one year suspension, depending on the extent and severity of the incident.
• Drunken players, at the umpires discretion, may be ejected from the game and/or park
• Any team member consuming alcoholic beverages at a league event which were NOT purchased from a league authorized vendor will have the team fined $50 and the player suspended for the remainder of the season and playoffs. The suspended players team will receive a warning and be put on probation for the current season and next.
• Mangers/Coaches are expected to promote sportsmanlike behavior within the league. Failure to do so may result in the Manager/Coach and entire team being place on probation or expelled from the league
• Resolution Procedures
a. The plaintiffshould report unsportsmanlike conduct, verbally to any member of the executive. This is to be followed by a written report to the President before any action will be taken. Such reports should be fully documented and signed by the game umpire, if applicable. Reports must be submitted within seventy two (72) hours of the incident.
b. A BCSL disciplinary committee will be struck to discuss each report. The Plaintiff and accused will be invited to give their side of the story comibined with any witness reports.
c. The The BCSL Disciplinary Committee decision will not be pu to a general league meeting
d. Any member of the bCSL who feels they have been unjustly penalized may appeal the decision in writing to the President, within 48 hours. After reviewing the situation the Presidents decision will be final
